11. Replace an encoder

  • If an encoder needs to be replaced, there is no need to solder it.

  • Just remove the knob (pull it gently from the bottom or use a flat screwdriver to lever it up) and you will see the nut that holds the encoder.

  • Unscrew the button cover and hold the encoder from the inside so that it does not turn.

  • Turn the nut using a 10mm wrench and the encoder will be untighten so it can be removed.

  • Unplug it gently from the MIDI board. (pull the plug carefully).

  • Replace with the new encoder and use the nut from the previous encoder to screw it in place. Then place the knob back to the new encoder. (New encoders come as a kit with their cable and plug)
